The inspiration
So like every food lover, I watched Julie and Julia a couple of years ago and was in awe and inspired by the Julia/Julia project. The thought of cooking a different Julia Child recipe every day for one year made my heart race and my mouth water.
Like many other women and men across the world I am a single cook. Don't get me wrong I am married, but I am the sole cook in the household, and every day I go through the painful struggle of deciding what to cook for dinner. Chicken? Fish? Meat? Pasta? Does it require a side? Do I have enough time to make that when I get home from work? Will my husband like it? Do I have all the ingredients at home?
The plan
So the new year has inspired me to spice it up and bring my own twist to the project by creating my own version of the challenge. A different meal every day for a year. I have decided not to limit myself to any particular cook or cuisine. My criteria is that each dish be reasonably healthy that is lowish in fat and cholesterol (nothing outrageous like duck confit more than once a month).
The execution
I am going to go through all the cookbooks that I currently have at home and mark the recipes that I plan to cook. I am not sure yet if I will plan out the meals for the week or simply select something the night before.
The day after I will share the dish, a pic and the verdict.
